# Aerini > Aerini is a local-first visual workflow engine: wire nodes together on a canvas, then run the same engine on your machine or a headless server. No account, no cloud, no telemetry. The app's interface loads one font from Google Fonts at startup; the only other call is the Check for Updates button, when clicked. This website serves its own fonts and sets no cookies. Desktop app for Windows (x64), macOS (Apple Silicon only), and Linux (x64 and ARM64). Current release: 0.4.3 (pre-1.0). 40 built-in nodes in seven categories: Triggers, Core Actions, Files & Storage, Integrations, AI, Logic, and Utility. Workflows run manually, on a schedule, or from a webhook. The workflow engine is a standalone Rust crate (`aerini-engine`) that can be embedded in other programs. A separate headless binary (`aerini-server`) runs workflows unattended, without the desktop app. Third-party plugin nodes compile to WebAssembly and run in a sandboxed Wasmtime instance with capped memory, a per-call time limit, filtered outbound HTTP, and no filesystem access; the Plugins panel installs single `.wasm` nodes or multi-node `.aerinipkg` packs via file picker or drag-and-drop. AI Prompt and AI Agent can point at Ollama or any OpenAI-compatible server on your own hardware instead of a hosted API. A workflow behind a Webhook trigger can also be exposed as an embeddable chat widget, dropped onto any web page with one script tag; it is served by aerini-server in api mode. AI agents: `aerini-mcp` is a Model Context Protocol server, a separate small program that lets an agent (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or any MCP client that can start a local program) look up node types, validate a workflow, save it, and run it. Online mode connects to `aerini-server api` with a token and exposes 11 tools; saving, deleting and scheduling are refused unless it is started with `--allow-write`. Offline mode needs no server, exposes 4 tools, and only writes `.aerini` files; it never runs anything. Licensed AGPL-3.0: free to use, study, and modify. Distributing a modified version — including running it as a network service for others — requires sharing those changes back. A commercial license removes that requirement. ## Pages - [Homepage](https://aerini.org/): Product overview, how it works, feature list, and download links for every platform. - [FAQ](https://aerini.org/#faq): Answers on license, cost, platform support, and how to contribute. - [Pricing](https://aerini.org/pricing): The commercial license — a flat one-time fee for teams shipping a modified version without the AGPL's share-back requirement. - [Commercial license terms](https://aerini.org/license-terms): The full text of the Aerini Commercial License Agreement.
